Born in Taiwan, Ko-En Shih is an emerging young violinist and educator who enjoys performing in a variety of musical styles from classical to jazz. Her playing has been described as musical, sincere, and full of surprises. In the summer of 2004, Ko-En attended the Soesterburg International Summer Festival in the Netherlands. In 2008, Ko-En participated in the Casalmaggiore Summer Festival of Italy. She was also very involved in her church, improvising both on violin and piano as a member of the CCM (Contemporary Christian Music). She studied with Ms. Lucie Robert, Vladimir Klochko, Chih-Chin Yang, Ju-Yi Peng, Yi-Fang Huang, and Jenny Rudin. A graduate of the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, and in just five years time under the guidance and instruction of Keng-Yuen Tseng, she earned both bachelor's and master's degrees in violin performance as well as a teaching certificate.
