Born into a family of musicians, Chinese violinist Congcang Dou began learning violin at the age of four, under the guidance of his father. He later became a student of Professor Huang Xiao Zhi. In 1997, he was the youngest prize winner of the Third Violin Competition, held by Central Conservatory of Music, Beijing. At ten years old, Dou entered the school’s Preparatory Division to study under Wang Hong. He later went on to compete in the school’s Fourth Violin Competition and won the top prize in his category, including the first prize for the performance of a Chinese work.
In 2005, at the invitation of Director Curtis Price, he was accepted into the Royal Academy of Music in London as a student of Maurice Hasson. There, he performed for HRH Queen of England with great success. In addition, Hasson brought Dou to France for a performance, which was very well received.
Dou was awarded full scholarship to study in Peabody Conservatory of Music in 2011, and is currently a student of violinist Keng-Yuen Tseng.
